FAQs

Is VISITING ANGELS licensed?

Yes,VISITING ANGELS is licensed with the state of Florida. We also are bonded and insured.

How can I be sure my parent is in good hands?

VISITING ANGELS runs a criminal background check on each new caregiver. However, we place most emphasis on making sure that our caregivers have a strong employment history as well as intangible traits such as a caring personality and a desire to help people. It is these traits which make all the difference in the day to day experience of each care recipient, who is serviced by our caregiver. Many of our caregivers have years of experience in private duty homecare. Most important our caregivers provide references to us from reliable sources.

Who do I call is I have a problem?

We have learned that most clients need services for a long time. However,if they don't know anyone at an agency on a personal level, when they have a problem they are going to look elsewhere for services. We, at VISITING ANGELS, make sure that our clients know us and are comfortable calling us to let us take care of their needs.

Who selects the caregiver for my parent?

You do! You are in charge of everything! VISITING ANGELS will first go to your home and conduct an initial meeting. We will then return to your home to allow you to interview and select a caregiver. Perhaps most important, we stay in close contact, week in and week out, with what's going on in the home of the care recipient. This takes the form of weekly telephone contacts and periodic home vists.

What can I expect the caregiver to do?

The tasks you would expect the caregiver to perform generally includes, anything within reason, that will help promote a positive sense of well-being for the care recipient. More specifically, the caregiver would assist with all matters of personal hygiene, planning and preparation of meals, light housekeeping, laundry and helping in coping with the routines of everyday life, including providing basic companionship and moral support.

Is the caregiver required to provide housekeeping services?

Typical housekeeping tasks to be provided by the caregiver would include: tidying up the rooms in which the care recipient spends his or her time, washing dishes after meals, sweeping the kitchen floor when needed, vacuuming, changing bed linens and any other chores that will promote the sense of well-being.

Whats happens if an emergency occurs while the caregiver is in the home?

We are not a medical organization. We do not provide medical services. We do however, advise the responsible family member to post emergency phone numbers near the phone. We also instruct the caregiver to always have emergency phone numbers close at hand. The numbers should include fire, rescue, poison control, doctors, next of kin and VISITING ANGELS. In case of emergency, we instruct the caregiver to contact in this order; call 911, contact next of kin and then call VISITING ANGELS.

Is there a minimum amount,of hours required for service?

VISITING ANGELS requires a minimum of four hours. This could be daily or weekly. At VISITING ANGELS we will not dictate to you what your schedule should be. It is our job to adjust to your schedule and to see to it that you remain comfortable in your home.

Can I terminate services at any time?

The first week would be a trial week, and you may terminate our services for any reason with no requirement of advance notice on your part, simply by contacting us. Subsequent to the first week, one week notice of termination is required.
